Sustainability – to be honest, this was a late addition to our values.
We were already on the right track with our female-led business, our remote shop structure, our non-commuting, diverse team, our minimal office use and last but not least our fully sustainable floating office VAST…
But we’ve learned from what’s going on around us. We’ve learnt that while VAST FORWARD can’t optimize production lines in big steps, we still have a responsibility for the things we can manage.
In ‘moving asset businesses’ there are assets that can move or be moved: learning about the one big future threat of climate change.
Learning about our role in it. Understanding what we can do – from small changes in our daily lives and behavior to taking political responsibility (aka voting) to talk and share and take a stand with what we have understood so far.
As a business, sustainability and the changes it requires will define how we work in the future.
As a team, we are working together on this change and defining our more sustainable future within our boundaries.
Through our sustainability initiative, VAST GREEN, we are evolving from 2020 – as a team and as a business – by taking responsibility for the impact we have on the world.
We need this evolution and the change it brings – VAST FORWARD encourages the whole team to grow personally, it is a wellspring to prepare for what lies ahead.
So we believe it’s our obligation to both ourselves and our company to work together towards a more sustainable future.
Of course, there are also future national and international regulations, such as supply chain transparency, that we need to be aware of. Activist movements like Last Generation and Fridays for Future are also increasing the pressure and relevance of sustainability for us.
There is no blueprint for small businesses to become “green.” That’s why we’ve developed our own agile framework as a process.
We follow our motto “We Do Not Just Compensate”, and we work together effectively despite our spatial distance, with the shared goal of a more sustainable future for VAST FORWARD.
Our strategy is based on current scientific knowledge and is aligned with the SDGs. As a team, we are responsible for implementing our sustainability journey, knowing that we still have a long way to go. So, let’s move!
