Another year has gone by and Vast Forward’s initiative Vast Green has been making progress!
For everyone who remembers our last Impact Report, our goal for 2023 was to breach out and redirect our focus towards stakeholder engagement. While the focus of 2022 was on the calculation and compensation of emissions as well as the communication and PR efforts of Vast Green, this year we wanted to include our network and take the necessary step of working together!
Our idea: Focus on the ongoing growth of device consumption and storage capacity and, as a result, the inevitable data littering as a stepping-stone for expanding sustainability possibilities. We developed a GREEN CODING GUIDE to share our findings on how to program in a more sustainable manner.
Of course, we continued to track our teams and networks resource consumption together with our partner Code Gaia, which continue to help us identify starting points for optimisation.
We also made the decision to redirect our CO2 offsetting efforts. As a team, we chose to not buy certificates anymore but rather aim to find what sustainability in business could mean and how we can directly take responsibility.
Next to voluntary commitments, many, many hours of co-working sessions, surveys, sustainable Fridays, and Lunch&Learns, our team managed the everyday business and started our VAST CLASS project: Continuing our goal of reaching our network, VAST CLASS is our contribution to making internal knowledge accessible to the public, whether in relation to our core business or our competencies in the context of sustainability.
Transparency remains part of our focus points and sharing the experiences and knowledge of our journey is yet another step towards this goal.
We are eager to continue our journey and find new ways of integrating sustainability and business. We have big plans for the coming years so: Check out our Impact Report 2023, stay curious and Do Not Just Compensate!
